A helicopter with five people on board crashed into Lake Nakuru on Saturday morning.

This helicopter crashed a few minutes after setting off from Jarika County Lodge on October 21st, 2017 heading to a political rally, where President Uhuru Kenyatta was the main addresser.

Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has issued a statement confirming that there was a male pilot, three men and one female passengers. “Initial indications are that there are no survivors,” KCAA writes.
Investigations are ongoing through appropriate government agencies as to the cause of the accident.

Capt. Gilbert M. Kibe the Director General of KCAA clarifies that the helicopter is owned and operated by Flex Air Charters run by Capt. Bootsy Mutiso, contrary to media reports that it belongs to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika said three of her media team were among the five people on the chopper.

Nakuru OCPD Joshua Omukata confirmed the incident saying they were waiting for a boat to conduct the rescue on the chopper that crashed inside the lake.
