At least 200 police officers at the level of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) are on tenterhooks after it emerged that they might have forged their Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) and Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) results in order to join the force.
The Inspector General of Government, Irene Mulyagonja, has asked the officers who joined during the 2015/2016 and 2014/2015 intakes for using fake documents.
“Most of them forged Primary Leaving Examination and Uganda Certificate of Education academic papers. Others used documents of their deceased relatives. We have received the letter at our human resource department,” an officer at the police headquarters in Naguru said.
Police spokesman, Mr Emilian Kayima said that the IGG was indeed carrying out investigations and she was free to do so.
“Yes, that investigation is there and IGG has powers to investigate any government department. Details can be given by the arm carrying out the investigation,” Kayima said.
