Land grabbers have declined to comply with the directives of the Land Commission of Inquiry to surrender the land they allegedly obtained fraudulently.

Justice Catherine Bamugemereire the chairperson of the commission, in mid this year,  ordered several people to surrender the titles and  stop developments on the land they allegedly grabbed.

While speaking to Journalists, the commission lawyer, Mr Ebart Byenkya said the land grabbers have adamantly  defied the committee.

He said they were supposed to write to the land board to cancel the titles they had acquired falsely and also halt developments on those plots.

“We found others carrying out construction activities,” Byenkya said.

The lawyer said some of the land in question belongs to National Fisheries Resources Research Institute (NAFRRI).

This land is located in Wairaka village, Magwa Parish, Jinja Central Division , Masese village in Walukuba-Masese Division and Kakira Town Council.
