Challa Elma Kapel being crowned

Challa Elma Kapel, 19,  representing Karamoja region has been crowned as the finest among the twelve beauty contestants at a pageant function of  Miss tourism held last night at Kampala Serena hotel.

She is the  sixth tourism ambassador to lift Uganda’s flag internationally.

Amindst the silence and great expectation from the waiting hundreds of audience and with moving heads dancing to the rhythm of the background music, the chairperson of Miss Tourism national court, Joram Muziire, announced Challa as the new Miss tourism 2017-2018

This sent the whole audience into loud screams of joy, clapping, dancing and jumping up and down as they attered out Challa’s name.

The tourism queen was crowned by Ephraim Kamuntu, the Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities Minister.

Challa was awarded with a brand new car from the main sponsors of the pageant, Radiant Cosmetics and more other gifts.

According to Silvia Kalemba one of the final Judges, height, self presentation, confidence and intelligence were some of the main considerations.

The event was sponsored by Radiant cosmetics who incurred 130million and a brand new car to the winner as a way of support towards the success of choosing the new Tourism ambassador.

” We incurred 130m this year and next year we shall put in 500m, we are Ugandan, we support Uganda, we support talent and we support Tourism, said the Director of Radiant Cosmetics.

Miss Viola the brand manager of Radiant, said their objective is to give back to the community by developing tourism.

Meanwhile Hon Prof.Rapheal Kamuntu appreciated the confidence and inspiration exhibited from the 12 tourism contestants saying its a great sign of love for the country.

“Combining the beauty and intelligence is a talent, I have been inspired by these girls, we shall break all the limits in the Tourism industry, he said.

The top five finalists include Ayebaere Anita from Ankole, Challa Elma-Karamonja, Amuge Gertrude from Teso, Ahura Gertrude from Bunyoro and Janat Birungi from Kigezi who will now compete on the international level as they search for Miss world tourism.
