Hon.Ida Nantaba was forced to wear red ribbons

Kayunga residents have ordered Aida Nantaba- woman MP Kayunga District and National Resistance Movement (NRM) MP Amos Lugoloobi, Ntenjeru North to put on red bandanas.

The furious residents have chased and beaten NRM people with yellow ribbons that had been organised by Moses Karangwa the ruling NRM party’s chairperson for Jinja district.

When a scuffle ensued Police left people to work on the yellow men.

MP Lugoloobi tried to run for safety, and Karangwa pulled out his pistol shoot in the air but people were unstoppable.

The angry residents ordered Hon Nantaba and Lugoloobi to tie the Red Ribbon to show their solidarity with “Togikwatako” campaign, which they did.

The State Minister of Information and Communications Technology, Aida Nantaba and MP Lugoloobi allowed the electorate to give their views on proposed amendment of Article 102 (b). A number of the voters rejected the matter.

The dissatisfied MPs subjected the matter to a vote by show of hands.

Those in support of the Bill were 39 while those opposed to it were so many that Lugoloobi lost count and said: “ I am tired of counting.”

This comes at a time when MPs are consulting their constituents about the amendment of Article 102(b) of the Constitution.

The red ribbon is used by opposition to reject the age limit bill while the yellow ribbon is used by NRM members who support the removal of Presidential age limits.
