Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA) have clinched the CECAFA Kagame Cup after a hard earned 1-0 victory over Tanzania’s Azam FC on Sunday evening at Nyamirambo stadium in Rwanda.

Mustafa Kizza scored the only goal of the game in the 63rd minute, giving KCCA FC their first victory since the late 1970s.

The team now bags USD 30,000 (Shs 112m) as prize money for the winner and an extra Shs3.7m for each player promised by the FUFA President Eng Moses Magogo.

Azam FC on the other hand won the competition’s title in 2015 before retaining it last year after a two-year hiatus, largely, this publication understands, due to lack of sponsors.

AFC Leopards, of Kenya, are the last team to win it three times running between 1982 and 1984.
