State Minister for Water and Environment Ronald Kibuule has been interrogated by the Land commission of inquiry over attempting to acquire 85 acres of land in Buikwe district.
Kibuule standing before the commission on Wednesday denied evicting squatters on this land after allegations that he warned people to vacate by January 20th, 2018.
“There is no reason to evict anyone, in this case eviction has not occurred,” said Kibuule.
He adds “how can I disappoint my appointing authority in this case, when I’m helping him administer the country.”
Kibuule assured the commission that he intends to abide by the law.
The minister dismissed the allegations made by Christine Nassali a resident of Kigaya in Buikwe district. Nassali testified before the Commission claiming that the minister’s security operatives tortured her husband Dickson Wasswa Mboowa to death.
Kibuule claims he acquired the 85 acres legally from the legal heir to the mother of the Buganda King, Namasole Sarah Natoolo, through an agent called Musa Katerega.
He said, “in this case I don’t explain much about the Namasole of Buganda because she is not elected nor appointed that we get to know them.”
This followed the question posed to him by Mr Robert Ssebunya-land commissioner, about Namasole.
