Kawempe North MP Latif Sebaggala’s U-Turn to stand as an independent candidate in Kawempe North has unsettled the National Unity Party (NUP).
NUP which had settled on Mohammed Segirinya as its flag bearer has to contend with Sebaggala who they selected as flag bearer and he suddenly abandoned the race.
Sources in NUP say the party had ring fenced a position for Latif Sebaggala in the East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) and were “shocked” to see him bounce back in the Kawempe race.
Latif Sebaggala made the announcement at the burial of his brother Al Hajji Nasser Ntege Sebaggala that he would stand as an independent candidate in Kawempe North.
