For all your jewelry needs, it could be worthwhile visiting or calling Leilahz, a fantastic shop that blends a service of Art, Fashion and Events.
Leilahz is owned by Ms Leilah Nankya, who is a hands on entrepreneur with skill in making jewelry, training of those interested in learning how to make jewelry, make up and image consultancy.
She spoke to us about the work at the shop and shed more light on how they do business for their customers

Monday Times: We have often heard about Leilahz and wanted more clarification from you about what the business actually does. What does Leilahz do?
Leilah Nankya: We do a range of things. But mainly, we do handmade jewelry, events planning (especially decoration), make up services and image consultancy.
The biggest part of our business has been the jewelry. We make casual jewelry, jewelry for the office and bridal jewelry.
Our decorations are mainly for Baby Shower, Kukyala, Kwanjula and Weddings. We also do small parties.
I make the jewelry myself and I also have a team that helps me. I also train usually girls who have just graduated, those in Senior 6 vacation and those who want something to do. I train them how to do the jewelry and I also train them how to set up businesses for themselves and run them.
Monday Times: How different is Leilahz from other businesses that do the same kind of work?
Leilah Nankya: The fact that I make the jewelry myself. It is my craftsmanship. We are very creative and try to make unique and customized jewelry for our clients. Whatever you want we make it.
We also have good customer care so as soon as you become our customer your experience with us is great.
Monday Times: How did you learn this business?
Leilah Nankya: I taught myself. It was a passion at first. When I started, it started as a hobby, then many people became interested in it so I started taking it as a business and now it is what I do even after completing my university studies.
Monday Times: Do you deliver your jewelry to people who cannot come to where you are?
Leilah Nankya: Yes I do. I usually deliver to clients in office who might not be able to come. I usually prefer to deliver myself so that I maintain a person touch with my clients and I could find other clients there which helps my business to grow.
Monday Times: What are your working hours and days?
Leilah Nankya: We work from Monday to Saturday from 9am to 7.30pm. We also work on public holidays.
Monday Times: How about bridal services apart from jewelry, can you organize the them other services that make their days special?
Leilah Nankya: Yes we do through events planning and organization. We also have image consultancy which is about helping our clients decide what to wear and in some cases where to find what to wear.
Monday Times: What advice would you give to someone who is trying to purchase jewelry?
Leilah Nankya: it is important to pay attention to quality. These days there is a lot of fake jewelry on the market and people could lose money by spending it on jewelry that does not last.
Monday Times: How are your prices like in general?
Leilah Nankya: They are affordable prices. We have for example necklaces that cost from between Shs 40,000 and 80,000 for the casual ones, while bridal ones cost from between UShs 80,000 to Shs 200,000.
The prices all depend on the beads I have used and the design.
For training we charge UShs 300,000 for six weeks of training for someone to learn all the basics.
Monday Times: Where are you located?
Leilah Nankya: We are located opposite Pioneer Mall Parking on the Building that has Uhuru restaurant. We are on Level 4 Shop No.5.
