Ugandan gospel singer Sam Lucus Lubyogo aka Levixone on Sunday won the Best Afro Pop Artist of Excellence award at the 4th edition of the Maranatha Global Worship Music Awards (MGWMA) the awards held at Emerald Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya.
Excited Levixone whose vision from the beginning was to see that gospel music is recognised and spread, took to his social media platforms to say thank you to the organising body of the awards.
He is humbled to see it being achieved through his music. He dedicated it to the gospel fraternity in Uganda saying that it has come a long way.
“In a larger sense, however, this award is more appropriately deserved by the gospel fraternity here in Uganda. Gospel music has come a long way in making an impact in this country. This award goes to show that we indeed do not labor in vain,” he posted on his Facebook page.
The awards are held annually with the aim of acknowledging authentic Biblical worship music and encouraging Gospel artistes to work harder.
This year’s edition was themed; “Celebrating Excellence in Worship Music Ministry seeks to acknowledge authentic Biblical worship music and to honor exceptional individuals from around the globe.”
