Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) President Moses Magogo has without mentioning names, condemned warlords in football, who he says affect the growth of football. In a post made on his social media account on Facebook, Magogo said,

“The economy of a country is affected by war.

The Uganda football economy can not grow with wars and wrangles

Let us all condemn football war lords and generals and applaud harmony and football developers

With more FUFA & Clubs professionalisation through good governance practices & club licensing, more resources are coming to football.

Currently Ugandan football is annually drawing over 7billion Ugx (2m USD) per year out the more than 700billion Ugx (200m USD) advertising spend (Adspend). This is less than 1%.

In comparative football was drawing only 500m ugx (140k USD) which is about 0.07% of the Adspend in 2013

Yes we can achieve more than this

It is part of our 5-year strategic plan

It is Our Game, It is Our Country”

Magogo’s reign has been interspersed with occasional attempts to remove him from office.
