News reaching our desk has it that Makindye Chief Magistrates court has extended criminal summons against a Ugandan girl a one Babirye Robina who’s on run or hiding within Kampala outskirts or its surrounding.
The case was scheduled to resume immediately after Babirye’s arrrest & the court was due to re-examine the suspect & hear her side but police say the culprit is still in hiding or on the run.
The suspect was slated to appear in court on 17/05/19.
“Therefore you’re hereby commanded to appear in this honourable court without fail, So that you can defend yourself in the alleged charges of unnatural sexual acts, sodomy (lesbianism) under section 145a of the homosexuality Act 2014 whose particulars are contained in GCF Katwe Police division vide CRBD 18/021/19,” the summon reads in part.
“If the suspect fails to cooperate or attend & respect this honourable court as summoned, this honourable court shall use all available man power against you,” it continues.
Babirye is suspected & accused of unnatural sexual acts of lesbianism which is illegal in Uganda & within East African member states; it’s punishable under section 145a of the Penal code Act. 7 year jail term to those that have been convicted or found to have canal knowledge of it on conviction & life imprisonment to second & third offenders on conviction well as a lifetime imprisonment to its promoters and funders & a termination of the work permit of an NGO that defends the LGBTIQ & a forcible deportation if the funders are foreign nationals.
