Malaika Fashions is a one stop centre for traditional and other designs in Kampala City. We visited the design house and met Ms Anne Najjuko the owner. She told us many good things about the design house.

Monday Times: What does Malaika Fashions really do?
Anne Najjuko: Sell traditional wear of all kinds. We do everything West African, East African and so much more. It is all about fashions. We sell clothes and other items for example office wear, casual wear, bridal wear, and more.
Monday Times: How different are you from others who do similar business?
Anne Najjuko: I make the designs myself while others just import what is already made. This means that I can do exactly what you want.
Also we are not limited in what we can do for someone, it depends on what you want and if the money is available.
Monday Times: What are you working hours?
Anne Najjuko: We work 8am to 8pm Monday to Saturday but if a customer calls us and wants to visit on Sunday we can open so that we meet them.
We open on public holidays same hours because we know that some people are free at that time.
Monday Times: Do you deliver to a client who may want you to send something to them?
Anne Najjuko: Yes we do deliver and as long as we agree on the cost of everything. Also we sometimes advise clients to come over instead because they might have to fit the clothes after they are bought to see if they are okay.
Monday Times: How do you tell that this is a good traditional wear?
Anne Najjuko: It is the quality of the material and the quality of the design. Both of them go hand in hand because you cannot have good design and bad quality.
Monday Times: Do you do training?
Anne Najjuko: Yes I do. I can train people to do this kind of work, so that they are able to make a living from it, Our training takes between six months and one year and it is at a cost. It depends on what you want but we make for you a good program so that you leave after you have learnt something.
Monday Times: How are your price?
Anne Najjuko:Our prices are affordable and negotiable but it depends on what you want because something that is of a high price might be something with a lot of things. So the price depends on what you want.
Monday Times: How did you learn this work?
Anne Najjuko: I loved traditional wear and designing so I started teaching myself long time ago and then also learnt from see what others did and trying to understand it well.
Monday Times: Do you have anything special for this December 2017?
Anne Najjuko: Yes we do, when you buy two African fabric we give you one for free.
Monday Times: Where are you located?
