Manchester United and Liverpool are reeling from record breaking humiliating defeats that have dampened the early hopes of many supporters. Man U lost 1-6 to Tottenham Hotspurs while Liverpool lost 2-7 to Aston Villa.
Bruno Fernandes’ early goal for Man U in the second minute was equalized by Tanguy Ndombele in the fourth minute, before a streak of other goals from Son Heung-min in the seventh and thirty seventh minutes, Harry Kane slotted in two goals in the thirtieth and seventy ninth minute and Serge Aurier’s fifty first minute score broke the hearts of Man U fans.
The win was sweet revenge for Jose Mourinho who sets the record for managing a side that has obtained the most goals scored against Man U in the first-half since the Premier League started.
Liverpool’s misfortunes started with an early goal from Ollie Watkins in the fourth minute. Watkins further tormented the reds with goals in the twenty second and thirty ninth minutes, while John McGinn, and Ross Barley netted in the thirty fifth and fifty fifth minutes respectively. Aston Villa’s last two goals game from Jack Grealish in the sixty sixth and the seventy fifth minutes.
A struggling Liverpool managed only two goals from Mohamed Salah in the thirty third and the sixtieth minutes.
Like Man U, Liverpool broke a record and became the first League champion to concede seven goals in a league match since Arsenal in 1953.
