Few people attended the Million Dollar party

The heavily promoted Million dollar party at Club Guvnor last night November 30, turned into a sparsely attended event of mainly friends from the diaspora.

Highly billed as one of the highlights of this year, members of the industrial area club were shocked to see a trickling number of people coming for the do until the wee hours of the morning.

A few ladies had fun at the event

It is not known why the party flopped but Alex Kamara an entertainment specialist who attended the event told us that several factors could account for the flop.

“I think there was no dominant personality driving it. Most of these events are tied to a big name such as Ivan Semwanga, Zarie, King Lawrence and others. Million Dollar party had no one. Next year they should get the main millionaire to be the face,” Kamara said.

The other factor that affected the party is the slow economy. Since the year began, Uganda’s economy has been dragging. Most businesses in the city report declining sales and there is no sign that the end of the year will change.

Prossie Wanyama a beautician told us that “unlike other years, this year our work is being affected even in the festive season. When people lack money, they will not spend. So entertainment, luxury, beauty industry are cut down.”

It is yet to be seen if in December socialite Zarie will attract her fans to the same venue because of her star personality.
