Miss Uganda UK Queen Peninah Wampamba is working in collaboration with Uganda Blood Bank to donate blood in order to reduce the critical shortage of blood in the blood Bank.

The Uganda Blood bank required at least 340,000 units of safe blood annually, however at the moment they are only collecting 200,000 units. It is for this very reason that Queen Peninah has included a blood donation drive in her activities.

In a statement released on Thursday 21st, the Miss Uganda UK team thanked those who have supported Queen Peninah in all her endeavours.

“We would like to take the opportunity to thank those who have supported our Queen Peninah Wampamba on all her endeavours,” the statement reads.

“Miss Ugandan UK, under JM Promotions, started 8 years ago with the aim of promoting beauty, culture and decent amongst the Ugandan community in the United Kingdom. It was our intention that Miss Uganda UK would not only celebrate the culture and decent of Uganda but also be an event that would unite Ugandans in the UK. We are incredibly proud to see Our Queen Peninah use her title to fulfil the aims of Miss Uganda UK.”

Queen Peninah arrived in the country on the 15th of February and has since been using her background as a Nurse to carry out activities that would help those who are in need. On the 18th of March 2019, Peninah donated a solar panel to the children’s ward at Gombe Hospital with a major mission of creating a smile, hope and light for a promising future. She furthermore repaired a school gate at Kasaka Primary School where her Great Grandfather was a founding member.

She will further be delivering donations, collected from the UK, to Salaama School for the Blind Mukono. This will include specialist medical sunglasses, braille machines and clothes among other things.
