Police on Thursday Night arrested Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament (MP) Francis Zaake.
The information was broken by Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.
Bobi Wine said the youthful MP was picked from jam and bundled to a police van to Central Police Station where is being detained.
Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga confirmed MP Zaake’s arrest without giving details.
This website has learnt from sources that the MP was arrested for allegedly ‘skipping’ Police bond.
Zaake in December last year endured seven hours of interrogation by detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on allegations of treason and escaping from police study following the violence in Arua Municipality by-election on August 13.
Zaake and Kyadondo East Member of Parliament, Bobi Wine, were among the 33 suspects arrested in Arua on allegations of stoning President Yoweri Museveni’s convoy on August 13, during the Arua Municipality by-election campaigns.
Bobi Wine and Zaake were later advised to seek specialized treatment abroad.
However, the two were blocked from leaving the country and subsequently arrested at Entebbe Airport.
They were taken to Kiruddu Hospital and placed under the guard of Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence.
Bobi Wine was later cleared by the medical board and police to travel to the US for treatment but Zaake wasn’t cleared.
Zaake was later cleared to travel abroad for medical attention.
The 27-year-old also suffered severe injuries in 2017 when armed men stormed Parliament as Opposition MPs protested against the removal of the presidential age limit from the Constitution.
