Shivers are running through the spines of staunch Catholics after news emerged that Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament Betty Nambooze has become born again. Her conversion to the Pentecostal movement was announced by one of Kampala’s leading pastors.
For most of her adult years, Nambooze has not only belonged to the Catholic faith, she has also supported the Democratic Party (DP) which has its roots in the Catholic Church.
Simon Kaggwa Njala a staunch catholic and broadcaster, who has been a very of Nambooze, lamented about her conversion on social media.
“This requires a deeper reflection. Omwaana wa Maria tumwongere essaala,” Simon Kaggwa Njala said.
In response to the allegations of her conversion, Nambooze said she belonged to the catholic charismatic faith, which shares some values with Pentecostals but are not Pentecostals.
“Am a catholic by faith…a charismatic catholic…Pentecostals dont own the word “saved”…..period,” Nambooze said.
Nambooze’s conversion is believed to have come after her surgery in India following the fracas in Parliament over the age-limit amendment.
