Moto Moto means Hot Hot in Kiswahili. Moto Moto Lounge on Gaba Road in Gaba lives true to its name as a hot one stop spot for all kinds of entertainment experience in town. Conveniently located by the roadside, Moto Moto Lounge exceeds all of its client’s expectations.
Today we visited the lounge and found its management, who were kind to share with us what makes it a very unique night and day spot in Kampala.
Monday Times: Good afternoon Sir. This place is wonderful from as far as we can see. What would you say you have at Moto Moto Lounge?
Management of Moto Moto Lounge: We have a variety of experiences at our lounge. First of all we combine a bar, a club, a restaurant and a car wash. The restaurant serves local and foreign dishes, with some good Kenyans Specials such as Nyama Choma and Sukuma Wiki and Goat (both roasted and deep fryed).
Our menu is as follows:
Starters
Salads: We have Chicken Salad, and Garden Salad.
Soups: We have Chicken Soup, Mushroom Soup, and Vegetable Soup.
Main Courses
Chicken: We have whole staffed chicken oven grilled, half chicken oven grilled, quarter chicken oven grilled, quarter chicken plain, boneless chicken pan grilled and pan fried chicken, buffalo chicken wings, chicken nuggets, chicken brochettes, and fried gizzards.
Snacks
Beef sausages, Chips plain, Beef Samosas, Vegetable Samosas, Steamed Rice, Mashed Potatoes, Chapatti, Boiled Potatoes, Moto Moto Rolex,Fried Eggs, Pan Fried Liver and Chicken Goat Pilau.
Pizza: Veggie Delight, Chicken Cutlet, and Meat Cravers.
Sandwich and Burgers: Chicken Sandwich, Beef Burger, and Chicken Burger.
Spaghetti: Bolognaise, Napolitano, and Fried Spaghetti.
We have the Moto-Moto food platter which is a choice of four meat items from Goat, Pork, Fish, Chicken Sausages with samos and chips and potato wedges. We also have Moto-Moto Medium Platter.
Goat/Lamb: Goat Ribs, Pan Fried Boneless Goat; Goat Brochettes.
Fish: Whole Deep Fried Tilapia, Whole Boneless Tilapia, Tilapia Fillet, and Nile Perch.
Healthy Section: Boiled Chicken, Mulokoni, Fried Matooke.
Pastries: Buns, Doughnuts, Cake Slice, Chicken/Meat Pie, and Muffins.
Drinks: Water Melon, Pineapple, Passion, Mango, Cocktail.
Tea: African Tea, Dawa, Black Coffee, African Coffee, Hot Water.
Milkshake and Ice Cream: Milkshakes, and Ice Cream.
The bar has all kinds of drinks, and is split into a VIP section and the other section. The VIP Lounge, which is called Pheonix operates every Saturday and Sunday. It has access control, which gives a special unique experience for the VIP customer.
Being a lounge, we have a sitting arrangement where our guests can relax after a long day or for the weekend when they go out.
Apart from this, we have a meeting venue, that can hold corporate meetings and social meetings. We can serve drinks and eats in there as people hold their meetings. That venue can hold wedding meetings, organization meetings and many more. It is fully equipped with conferencing facilities. This includes a Public Address System, a Projector, and exotic furniture. It is also designed to keep the participants in the meeting in a confidential setting.
Within the club area, we also have pool table for those who love playing pool.
Beyond this, we have a good performance stage for musicians and comedians, and also have a projector in that area with a large screen, that can host video premiers or other video performances.
The whole area has giant screens that are connected to DSTV and show football matches and other sports events when they occur. We have over 11 giant screens in the place. So anywhere one is seated, they can have a view of the action as it occurs.
Our aim was to set up an all in one facility for entertainment.
We have the Jet Car wash, with which we wash cars professionally and to the satisfaction of our clientele.
On Fridays, we have the Friday Night Swagg Queen Beez hosted by Nicole and Charity with Jamz by Bexxa DJ.
On Wednesdays, we have the Quiz Night
And once a month, we have Silent Disco.
Monday Times: Okay. So how different can you say that you are from other bars, restaurants and lounges?
Management of Moto Moto Lounge: As you have seen during our tour of the lounge, we are a one stop shop for entertainment. We host everything in one place. Therefore if you are having a drink and would like to have something to eat, you do not need to go somewhere else, because we have all that under one roof.
We also have free Wi-Fi.
Monday Times: What are your opening hours and days?
Management of Moto Moto Lounge: We open from Monday to Monday, at 10am until the last customer leaves, which on the weekend can easily be the next morning or the next afternoon. The car wash opens at 7am.
Monday Times: How safe and secure is Moto Moto Lounge?
Management of Moto Moto Lounge: It is very safe and secure. We have trained personnel, and one of the directors has been in security for the last thirty years.
We have a deposit box, where people with fire arms can come and keep their arms.
We have a search on entry, with metal detectors, and we have bouncers policing the venue without distracting the customers. So they are able to detect any trouble and take swift action when required.
For busy days we also been up security with the police, for example on major public holidays and weekends.
Monday Times: With this excellent service, do you also do outside catering?
Management of Moto Moto Lounge: Yes we do outside catering.
Monday Times: If a customer fights with another, how would you handle it as a bar?
Management of Moto Moto Lounge: Well, we do not accept brawls at Moto Moto Lounge. We have trained personnel, who would eject both people fighting. We shall then find out who started the fight or who was at fault and then ban them from the lounge. Bearing in mind that we have CCTV cameras, we are able to review everything that happened, in the course of our investigation.
