The youths in Igara West county- Bushenyi district have decided to surpass themselves from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party’s MP Raphael Magyezi  for moving the controversial Constitution Amendment Bill.

Raphael Magyezi’s age limit bill seeks to scrap off the presidential age limit from the constitution allowing President Yoweri Museveni stand for presidency beyond the age of 75, come the next elections in 2021.

This Bill remains unwelcomed  basing on the  public reactions, and the hostility exihibited.

Bukuri Kakooza the Igara West NRM Youth League chairperson has told reporters that Magyezi was moving his motion and that the legislator had never consulted the electorates.

Kakooza also said that those are his personal interests or may be his family views but  not of the common or local people of Igara West Constituency, reasoning that age limit was not “the biggest problem at the moment”.

“Him considering age limit removal over fighting unemployment and poverty, “Our Member of Parliament, unfortunately, betrayed us”, Kakooza added.

This comes when  MPs are consulting their constituents on the age limit bill but the Igara youths say Magyezi  has not consulted then yet.

Kakooza claimes that everytime they call on Magyezi , he claims to be out of the country, saying he will get back to them , something he hasn’t done yet or rather consult  them about the age limit,”

Kakooza has directed a warning : “We want to remind our brother Raphael that we don’t think the regime loves or wants him, but he is just being used and one day they will dump him and Ugandans will be our witnesses.”
