Capt. Mike Mukula, the former Soroti Municipality Member of parliament has warned the Iteso to stop mixing personnel issues with development in the region.
Mukula was speaking during the 3rd annual Teso Convention 2019 held at Soroti Hotel over the weekend. He cautioned the Iteso against fighting each other.
Mukula said many people from Teso have missed appointments in government because of being fought by their own.
On the other hand, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah also urged the people of Teso to unite and work hard to elevate their area.
He said it is time for people of Teso to move from their current position and change the region by doing the basics.
Oulanya also urged the Iteso to stop lamenting about the cattle restocking program and start relying on their hands to improve their livelihood.
He advised the people of Teso and Acholi to discard the dependency syndrome, which is killing people.
He also launched the Teso Education Fund and donated Shillings 5 million to its operations.
Peter Lokeris, the State Minister for Energy and Ministerial Development, called upon the Iteso and Karimojongs to unite and do business together.
He said Karimojongs eat sweet potatoes, but depend on supply from Teso.
The convention drew Iteso from Uganda and Kenya.
