President Yoweri Museveni has warned those who killed Arua Municipality Member of Parliament (MP) Ibrahim Abiriga that it is a matter of time before they will be arrested.
Generalizing his hunt for the killers to suspected criminals killing Ugandans, Museveni made the vow during the national Heroes Day celebrations at Kakumiro district’s Birembo playground on Saturday.
“We shall revenge against whoever is killing Ugandans. Whoever has killed people will pay by his or her blood,” Museveni said.

The president made the remarks after visiting the scene of the heinous crime and thereafter condoling the family of Abiriga at their home in Kawanda. The shocking news of the gunning down of Ibrahim Abiriga filtered on social media in the evening hours of Friday. He was shot dead by unknown gunmen, who also claimed the life of his brother Saidi Butele.
For the last few months Uganda has been plagued with incidents of murder that includes high profile victims. A year ago, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Andrew Felix Kaweesi was gunned down in a similar manner in Kulambiro Kampala. His death followed the deaths of Prosecutor Joan Kagezi who was killed in Kiwatule Kampala and that of UPDF officer, Major Kiggundu, who was gunned down in Masanafu Kampala.

Despite several arrests, no one has been convicted for the murder of the three high profile citizens.
