Police in Katwe, Kampala have arrested a 26-year-old woman for reportedly giving false information to them.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango says the suspect, Evelyn Atuhairwe complained to police alleging aggravated robbery and kidnap of her Twins, Nakato and Waswa. “She also reported aggravated robbery of two suit cases, hand bag, money Shs 360,000 and two phones, techno and itel,” Onyango said.
The suspect claimed the kidnap and robbery occurred on Monday at around 11pm along Salama road, where she allegedly secured a special hire taxi to take her home, after reaching Kampala from Masindi where she had been with the alleged 4months old twins.
“Along the way the driver stopped at a sugarcane plantation and was joined by a boda boda rider who ordered the complainant to get out of the vehicle and put the twins and everything she had down. She tried to resist but they threatened to hit her with a hammer. She was told to put the head down and she became unconscious,” Onyango quoted the suspect as telling police.
He added however, police investigations revealed that Atuhairwe had “faked this case after having deceived the former man friend, one Hussein Lubwama that she had produced twins for him whereas not.” The suspect had also reportedly extorted money from the man for some time claiming she was pregnant and later gave birth to twins.
“Investigations reveal that the suspect was now staying with a new man along Busabala road where she left that morning and came to police to fake this case. She is being detained at Katwe Police Station on charges of giving false information,” Onyango said.
