NBS senior news anchor Samson Kasumba has been arrested.
Despite alerting several of his fellow scribes that he had been arrested on Monday night, by Tuesday no news or information had been heard about Kasumba’s arrest.
The police have not yet issued any statement about his arrest and agitation is currently engulfing his workmates. Simon K Njala, the host of ‘Morning Breeze’ on NBS TV, tweeted thus on Tuesday morning thus; “Dear @PoliceUg, my amiable and flamboyant brother @SamsonKasumba spent the night in your coolers on charges we’re yet to know. #Journalismisnotacrime”
The reason for Kasumba’s arrest is yet to be known. NBS reported that police is yet to disclose anything about the case for which he has been arrested, but admitted he is in their custody.
“Samson Kasumba was arrested on his way home shortly after the NBS LIVE at 9 bulletin. We are doing our best to engage all relevant stakeholders as the cause of his arrest is unknown” NBS posted on social media.
However, Next Media’s owned website Nile Post reported that he was arrested by people linked to intelligence and its suspected that he will be charged with sedition. Sources in police told us they had no role in his arrest.
