The Central Executive Committee  (CEC) of the National Resistant Movement (NRM) has today announced its full support for the proposed age-limit bill.

CEC, in a press release dated October 24, 2017 has adopted a number of resolutions at State house Entebbe in support of the amendment.

Richard Todwong the Ag. Secretary General of NRM writes that the committee is to give full support to the Bill.

“To fully support the bill for the Act entitled Constitution  (Amendment ) (No. 2) ACT 2017, moved by Hon. Raphael Magyezi”, writes Todwong.

He added that the party is to popularize this decision to all structures and membership of the NRM, and the entire country, guiding and mobilising them accordingly.

The Ag. Secretary General notes  that “in the spirit and culture of democracy that the NRM fought for and believes in, we call upon the population to be respectful and tolerant of all the diverse views that may be peacefully and lawfully expressed during this process.”

The age-limit bill was tabled in Parliament on September 27th and later forwarded to the House Committee on Legal and Parliamentary Affairs where it would be scrutinised further.

This comes at a time when MPs are also consulting their Constituents about the amendment of Article 102 (b) of the constitution.
