National Resistance Movement (NRM) youth leaders in Mbale have mobilized to fight against the proposed age-limit bill.
The yellow youths say the idea of removing limit on presidential age is motivated by selfish interests from given leaders.
Yahaya Mwanje the youth chairperson, on Friday said youths in Mbale have for long been ignored by their leaders who assume they are incapable of making decisions.
Yahaya was referring to a meeting that was held at St.Austine church recently, where their leaders, agreed on behalf of the youth on the amendment of article 102(b) of the constitution.
He said, “as youth of Bugisu sub-region and Mbale in particular, we see no reason of supporting President Museveni. We have never benefited any thing like a project from him unlike other districts.”
The NRM youth chairperson challenged senior leaders to point out any project if they exist.
Kadama Yusuf the NRM youth councilor in Nakoloke town council said president Museveni worked with the youth when he was getting into power, contrary to what is happening now.
“The parliamentarians of Bugisu sub-region should be objective and stand for what is right or they will not be voted into office in the next term,” said Kadama.
khamble Felix Mayasa the youth leader in charge of publicity, said the president has ruled long enough, and wondered when the young people will get into leadership positions if the old refuse to quit power.
The Private Member’s Bill seeks to amend article 102(b) of the Constitution to provide for unlimited time for presidency.
