In what many of his opponents have described wishful thinking, veteran opposition politician Raila Odinga has demanded for the formation of an interim government in Kenya before elections can be held in 90 days.

The call has taken many by surprise but to his ardent supporters, Odinga is pulling off a masterstroke that shall enable him to catapult to power.

“As you know the re-run of the election was as fraudulent as the first election that took place and which was annulled,” Odinga said.

It is not clear how Odinga shall attain his wish.

The Supreme Court of Kenya, which annulled the previous election is faced with two petitions that seek to annul the recently held election. They will shortly determine whether they should hear the petitions. If they go ahead and annul the election, a repeat election could be held in 90 days.

Odinga’s rival Uhuru Kenyatta has accused Odinga of playing ping pong with the country’s political future.

“My brother Odinga simply wants to become president. But the will of the people stands. They made their statement and we won the election,” Kenyatta said.

Raila Odinga refused to participate in the polls, which gave Kenyatta a landslide victory.
