One 54 Bar and Restaurant on Gaba Road is a prime spot that entertains revelers from the area and far beyond. With its fantastic blend of entertainment comprising of good music, good food and ambiance, it is one spot that one should never miss.
We visited One 54 today and spoke to its management, who gave us insight into what they do.
Monday Times: What does One 54 really mean?
Management of One 54: One 54 signifies Africa. It means fifty four countries in one continent. As such, at One 54, we entertain and serve all countries of Africa and with a spirit of all nations, one continent.
Monday Times: Interesting. So what does One 54 actually do?
Management of One 54: One 54 is a bar and restaurant. It is also a venue for meetings, entertainment and film. Our bar serves all kinds of drinks, and our restaurant offers snacks and foreign food.
In the bar we have giant screens in HD and we have DSTV, so we showcase Premier League matches on the weekend.
We have a theatre that is sound proofed. It is a good venue for conferences, events, birthday parties, bridal showers, baby showers and more. It can accommodate 350 people. We tend to show films there on some occasions.
Monday Times: Wow, this is interesting. Compared to other bars and restaurants, how different are you?
Management of One 54: The music we offer is fantastic, the service is great and the ambiance is fine. We have adequate parking space and sufficient security.
Monday Times: Interesting. What are your opening hours and days?
Management of One 54: We open twenty four hours a day, from Monday to Sunday.
Monday Times: Do you do any deliveries, outside catering or mobile services for the products you have?
Management of One 54: Yes we do. We can handle outside catering for any number of people as long as we know in advance.
Monday Times: This is exciting. How are your prices like?
Management of One 54: Our prices are affordable. You can get a drink and something to each at One 54.
Monday Times: Wow this is nice. So being a bar, how do you handle someone who is too drunk to drive or leave the place?
Management of One 54: We do have arrangements for this. If someone is too drunk to drive, we improvise a driver for them. If they do not have a car, we have arrangements with special hires who work with us and can take that person directly to where they come from.
Monday Times: Okay. Now how safe is One 54 as a place?
Management of One 54: We have adequate security. We have guards that watch the cars, we have bouncers, we have CCTV cameras and we have entry and exit security that use metal detectors to ensure that no armed person gets into the bar and restaurant. We also make sure that no one loses property in the area.
Monday Times: This is impressive. Tell us about the theme nights you might have.
Management of One 54: We have live band every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. One Tuesday we have a reggae jam massive. On Thursday we have a fusion band and on Sunday we have what we call drum therapy, made up on traditional instruments. We also show movies in the theatre on Sundays from 7pm to 9pm.
Monday Times: So where exactly are you located?
Management of One 54: We are located in Bunga on the left side of the road as you come from Kampala. We are opposite the market.
