Parliament has fulfilled its promise to contribute to the full purchase of a house for the Ghetto Kids, a popular dance group.
The Kids who currently live in the same house they’re buying were on the verge to be thrown out after failing to clear the whole amount. The house was valued at 220M, and at the time they met the speaker they had paid partly with a balance of 100M.
Led by their manager Kavuma Dauda, the group this morning met the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga who presented them with a cheque worth Shs114,250,000.
According to Kadaga, the group will use the Shs100 million to clear the balance of the house and Shs14,250,000 to finance their day to day activities.
Late last year, the group came out crying how they were about to lose their house for failure to meet full payment on time. They organized a show at Freedom City to raise funds but it wasn’t enough to fully cover the debt.
Nevertheless, during the Parliament End of Year party last year, Speaker Kadaga mobilized MPs to contribute at least Shs250,000 each to save the kids from losing their house, and they have obliged.
