The 2019 Pepsi University Football League (UFL) Awards gala was held on Tuesday evening at Kati Kati Restaurant in Lugogo, Kampala.
Unlike in other events where only podium finishers are rewarded with cash, the UFL Awards that were sponsored by Pepsi were a bit different.
Other universities that finished below the third position in the league got One Million Shillings each, with no conditions on how they use it.
Overall winners UCU (Uganda Christian University) got 4 Million Shillings whilst runner up St Lawrence University pocketing 3 Million Shillings.
Second runner up Bugema University were consolled with 2 Million Shillings.
Individual award winners pocketed 500,000 Shillings each.
Bugema University ‘s Nyanzi Medhi was recognised as the Best Coach this season for guiding his team to winning bronze medals against great odds.
Kyambogo University ‘s Wagogo George was recognised as the Best Team Official this season.
Muni University were recognised for their exemplary behaviour that promotes the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship.
Uganda Martyrs University fans were recognized as the best fans of the season for their consistent, passionate and disciplined support of their team.
Most Valuable Player (Each team)
Team MVP Uganda Christian University – Were Derrick.He received a trophy and 100,000/- from AUUS President Peninah Kabenge.
Team MVP St. Lawrence University (Uganda) – Gita Musa. His trophy and 100,000/- was collected by Seguya Peter from AUUS President Peninah Kabenge.
Team MVP Bugema University – Gift Fred. He received a trophy and 100,000/- from AUUS President Peninah Kabenge.
Team MVP Kampala University – Kibuule Michael. His trophy and 100,000/- was collected by Soigi Martha from AUUS President Peninah Kabenge.
Team MVP International University of East Africa – Chiok Majek. His trophy and 100,000/- was collected by Mbusi Derrick from AUUS President Peninah Kabenge.
Team MVP YMCA Comprehensive Institute – Kazibwe John. His trophy and 100,000/- was collected by Julius from AUUS President Peninah Kabenge.
Team MVP Kyambogo University – Okello Ivan. His trophy and 100,000/- was collected by Wagogo George from AUUS President Peninah Kabenge.
Team MVP Nkumba University – Kimbowa Sharif. His trophy and 100,000/- was collected by Abaho Israel from AUUS Peninah Kabenge.
Bugema University ‘s GIFT FRED was recognised as the Best Defender this season. His trophy and 500,000/- was handed to him by National Council of Sports General Secretary Ogwel Patrick.
Uganda Christian University ‘s Were Derrick was recognised as the Best Goalkeeper this season
