Police Arrest Three over Nansana Hardware Robbery

SP Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson has revealed that three suspects have been arrested to aid the ongoing investigation into the gruesome incident that has so far left 3 people dead and several others with life threatening injuries in Nansana.

“We have arrested three suspects to assist us with investigations. We shall not disclose their identities as it may jeopardize our investigations,” SP Onyango said.

Police says the investigations “are going on well” and that “there at good leads’ they are pursuing.

Onyango adds that the investigations into the incident are well on course and “there are good leads” that the police are following. Meanwhile, the death toll has risen to three after one of the injured victims died at the hospital. Onyango says Bugembe Amin died hours later at Mulago Hospital, where he and the other unidentified victim had been rushed with bullet wounds.

Six armed thugs on Wednesday afternoon cordoned off the hardware shop in Nansana town and shot at the employees as they offloaded cement from a truck. Two, including the Assistant Manager Jimmy Atikuru died on the spot. An unspecified amount of money was taken. According to police, the masked gunmen timed when the cashier was preparing to bank the day’s sales.
