Prophet Elvis Mbonye is one man who knows how to stir controversy. The self-styled prophet has appeared again in the news, this time for using policy to block a road in Kampala for him to pass. An angry pedestrian took to social media to protest at the incident, with a rant that went as follows:
“DOES PROPHET MBONYE HAVE A RIGHT OF WAY????????????
Yesterday police blocked vehicles for over 20 minutes at the Jinja road junction opposite Lugogo Rugby grounds and Shoprite. Even pedestrians were stopped from crossing from point to another. They cleared part of the Lugogo bypass and blocked all vehicles heading to Bukoto and Kamwokya. I thought they were clearing way for the President. But later a a convoy of four private cars for Prophet Elvis Mbonye showed up and crossed to Lugogo Rugby grounds. That’s when cars were allowed to move! JUST WONDERING WHETHER PROPHET MBONYE WAS ADDED TO THOSE WITH THE RIGHT WAY IN THIS COUNTRY.”
Prophet Mbonye has not spoken on the matter, nor has his associates or accomplices.
