Legendary singer Joseph Mayanja alias Jose Chameleone who recently announced his intentions to contest for the mayorship of Kampala City has started receiving death threats.
The singer said he started receiving death threats on 10th September from someone who claimed he is a general. The singer ignored the message but yesterday the threat again came up demanding him to pay 8m or get killed.
He has since reported the matter to Police and called on them to come to his rescue.
“This person calling himself General, I first received a message on the 10th September at 6:16pm where they demanded for 5,000,000 Shillings or I get killed,” the singer cried out.
“I ignored the requests and just again today at 9:17pm they are back asking me to send mobile money of 8,000,000 shillings.”
He added: “I already made my police reports and hope the Uganda Police and security can apprehend such goons that are getting at large.”
Chameleone said in the face of many killings across the country, he is not taking this lightly.
“Whosoever is behind this? The public and authority is now aware!!!”
He said the phone is registered with the names of Jenifer Maniraduha.
“So our dear telecom MTN, please you can also assist on this. As for you who’s sending me threats, am ready come anytime you wish. We all live once! With God Am not afraid!!” he added.
