Police have confirmed that no one was injured following a fuel tanker explosion in Naalya, Kira Municipality, in Kyaddondo County, Wakiso District.
According to Police, the Fuso number UAW 641D, which was carrying both petrol and diesel belonging to Don Uganda LTD was knocked by an overlapping Subaru Legacy number UBD 202B.
Police identified the driver of the truck as David Mpalanyi, 35, a resident of Nansana whereas the Subaru driver was still unidentified.
“Nobody was injured, fire brigade visited the scene to put out the fire,” the police revealed.
“The motor vehicle involved specifically the legacy has been towed away to Kiira Police station and the fuso wreckage is still stuck at the scene , efforts to tow it away are still underway.”
Fire-fighters spent close to four hours extinguishing the fire.
Mr Bernard Ssembusi, a police fire-fighter said they have contained the fire although the section of the road is still closed.
