Proline Football Club won the 45th edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup at the Masaka Recreational Stadium.

The 2018/19 FUFA Uganda Cup winners recovered from a goal down to beat Bright Stars 5-4 during a tense post-match penalty shootout.

Normal time of the game had ended one goal apiece with Nelson Senkatuka scoring the day’s opener

Bright Stars had been reduced to 10 men with Aggrey Kirya’s red card in the last 10 minutes of the game.

In the post-match shoot out, Musitafa Mujjuzi, Bright Anukani, Allan Egaku, Ivan Bogere and Hakim Kiwanuka for Proline.

Farouk Katongole, Samuel Ssekitto, Rajab Kakooza, Methodius Jjungu were on target for Bright Stars and sadly Senkatuka was the villain as his shot was stopped by the young Proline goalkeeper Hassan Matovu.

Proline will now represent the country at the CAF Confederation Cup.

Awards:

Musitafa Mujjuzi was named the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament.

He also co-shared the top scorer’s award with Kyetume’s Cephas Kambugu.

The best goalkeeper was Bright Stars’ Benson Wegima.
