Police in West Nile are investigating circumstances under which a refugee shot and injured a police officer in Moyo District.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Ian Natukunda was shot by a male refugee after he allegedly grabbed a gun from a female constable.

It is not yet clear why the South Sudan refugee shot the officer as police are still investigating.

Natukunda was admitted to Moyo Hospital in critical condition, Ms Angucia said.

However, police said there were preparing to airlift him to Kampala for better medical attention.
