Ruhaama County MP dies

MP Beijukye Zinkuratiire of Ruhaama county has passed on Friday night at Nsambya hospital after a long battle with illness.

Chris Obore, the Director of Communication and Public Affairs at Parliament confirmed that, “yes he passed on.”

Beijukye was serving his first term in Parliament that he begun to experience complications. Relatives say he was flown to India for Hepatitis B treatment.

It is alleged that he has succumbed to Hepatist B  but close relatives say he was poisoned after winning the MP seat which affected his liver and lungs.

The 46 year old, in February  2016  replaced the First Lady Janet Museveni who held that seat in the 8th and 9th parliaments.

Beijukye becomes the fourth legislator to die in the 10th parliament within a year.

He was married with four children.

Obore says burial details will be communicated after discussions with family members.
