In a new move aimed at protecting citizens from the risk of contracting the corona virus, the City of Kigali (CoK) has issued directives of washing hands before getting into public transportation.

In a tweet by one of the News agency, New Times Rwanda, a video was seen circulating showing passengers washing their hands beforehand.

This comes barely a day after the government banned all public gatherings with immediate effect, concerts and other events that bring many people together including trade shows, parades, and exhibitions.

As part of prevention measures, Rwanda has intensified prevention by deploying a team of medics who work 24 hours at the International airport using high-tech equipment to screen all passengers and follow up on their travel history.
