The Rwanda Amavubi stars head coach Antoine Hey has named a 24 man squad in preparation of the first away leg of the CHAN 2018 qualifiers play off.

Antoine said,”since Monday, the players have been engaged in a serious training.”

“We want to make sure the players gain lots of fitness in the next few days,” he told one local media.

The team will be captained by goalkeeper Eric Ndayishimiye.

“We are ready for this tough qualifying task against Ethiopia. We have been granted another chance to redeem ourselves following a disappointing final round exit to Uganda,” Ndayishimiye states.

Following the withdrawal of Egypt, CAF picked on Rwanda and Ethiopia for the slot.

Rwanda had missed out on the final place as they lost to Uganda Cranes 2-3 on goal aggregate despite winning the home return leg 2-0.

Rwanda’s Moses Waiswa and Yannick Mukunzi are among the players summoned

Ethiopia was also ejected by Sudan 2-1 on aggregate, leaving Uganda and hosts Kenya to advance as representatives for Central East Zone.

The final tournament will be hosted by Morocco early next year.
