Shaka Zulu Foods located in Kiswa Bugolobi is one of the most prominent restaurants and catering service for local food in Kampala Uganda. Started in 2011 by Mr.Umar Kikungwe, the restaurant enters 2019 in style and outlives many that have fallen along the way because of either failing to match customers’ expectations or poor management.
In a bid to understand what makes Shaka Zulu Foods tick, we had a conversation with management about their services, which we all agreed were exceptional.
Monday Times: Shaka Zulu Foods has been consistently delivering a high quality food service in Kampala from 2011. But for some people out there who have never visited the restaurant, they are not aware of what you actually do. Could you shed some light on this?
Management of Shaka Zulu Foods: Thank you for this question. We are a culinary business. More specifically, we are an outstanding restaurant and catering service, specializing in rich and flavored local food. We have great food, healthy options and a cosy atmosphere for our dear customers.
We are multi-cuisine.Multi-cuisine restaurants have all type of foods and they make all kind of dishes.
More importantly, we serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee and drinks.

Catering is a service that is most popularly seen during wedding receptions, but is also common place for business meetings, social and family gatherings at your home. It is intended to service many types of venues giving you one less thing to plan for.
Monday Times: What has set you apart from the rest of the food service provider in Kampala since 2011?
Management of Shaka Zulu Foods: We tend to describe Shaka Zulu Foods as a charming African restaurant offering African food and drink with its soul in Uganda and E.Africa. Our food is great. We also have fantastic artistic décor, and outstanding customer care from our staff. This has also been affirmed by several customers who have offered their thoughts on what they think about us. Our atmosphere is friendly and every customer is attended to so that they feel at home.
We can be relied upon for quality food, efficient service delivery, great customer care and availability of meals every day including public (bank) holidays.
At Shaka Zulu Foods, we have adequate street parking and a parking lot for our customers with cars. We also have outdoor seating for our customers who prefer that.
Monday Times: What are your working hours and days?
Management of Shaka Zulu Foods: We Open from 6:30am for breakfast, go through lunch and dinner and close very late. We work every day of the year.
Monday Times: For such services that are so exceptional, people tend to fear that they could be quite expensive. What do you have to say about your prices, for the benefit of our readers?
Management of Shaka Zulu Foods: Our prices are very competitive and affordable. They are commensurate with the great service we offer. We leave our customers totally satisfied.
