Residents of Wakiso is in shock after a former sales executive with Monitor Publications was murdered by his wife and children. Abel Katende’s death has also puzzled police, which has taken his wife into custody.
On Friday last week Abel Katende went missing in a case that was viewed as kidnap. However residents said that they had seen him being dragged away by the wife and children, while he was screaming for help.
Police Flying Squad boss ACP Herbert Muhangi speaking of the incident said they had arrested Katende’s wife
“We interrogated her and she revealed that she kidnapped him with the help of children and they killed him. They buried him in a latrine in Gayaza and we have retrieved his body.”
Former colleagues of Katende at Monitor Publications described him as an introvert who was very good at his job.
Abel Katende’s death is reported to have been connected with disagreements he had with his wife and children, who led him to separate from them. They have been living separately for the last two years.
Recently they invited him for a reunion, which he gladly accepted. They took the opportunity to clobber him to death and conceal his body in a pit latrine.
