Sironko leaders endorse age-limit amendment

Sironko woman MP Nambozo Florence Mayonga and a section of district leaders have today approved  the constitutional amendment of article 102(b).

This was during the consultative meeting called by the MP to seek views from local, opinion and religious leaders at Ashurs’ community hall in sironko town council.

Nambozo said, “i have gathered all the views of my people and am taking them back to parliament.”

She adds there is need to respect everyone’s opinion. “The biggest number has supported the removal of age-limit,” she said.

Nambaya Sogo Milton the Chief whip of the district council proposed that the article should be amended because its discriminative.

He adds there are people above 75 years and below 35 years capable of contesting for presidency in this country.

“Museveni is still strong to rule Uganda,” Sogo added.

Nabukonde Rosemary the District Councillor for Nalusala seconded the proposed bill saying they have benefited from Museveni’s government. “There is peace and security,” she said.

Welikhe Joseph Mabonga the NRM youth leader said the country is developing and they would not wish to go back in the dark days.

Meanwhile, some chairperson LC.IIIs and district councillors stayed away from the meeting requesting for a special meeting  with the legislator as they had a different opinion
