Six people suspected to be having symptoms of coronavirus have escaped from quarantine at Magale health centre in Magale town council in Namisindwa district citing hard living conditions, according to URN, a local newswebsite.
The six were quarantined following their return from Kenya through Lwakakaha border. However, the suspects are said to have escaped from quarantine on Friday because of lack of food at the centre.
Dr Stephen Masai, the Namisindwa district health officer has confirmed the development, saying they indeed had nothing to feed the suspects.
“You see even at the national level people are struggling to get what to eat what about us down this way. But we are expecting to get food either today or tomorrow to resolve the problem,” Masai said.
He, however, said they were able to trace the suspects and take them to their home district of Manafwa. Our reporter was unable to establish how many days the suspects had spent in the quarantine.
