Popular radio and television star Isaac Katende also known as Kasuku has defended the government for introducing the Social Media Tax. Kasuku speaking on a local television station this morning gave his thoughts on the new tax.
“Social media had destroyed journalism because it was bringing a lot of fake news from unknown people. It also created celebrities who had no claim to fame but just posting what they felt like. Social media also affected relationships because partners would not talk even when they were at home. They were busy on whatsapp, snapchat and facebook,” Kasuku said.
Social Media Tax which the government started implementing yesterday has become controversial as many internet users protest its introduction.
In response to those who say that social media tax was going to affect the masses, Kasuku said that social media was not a life and death issue.
“No one will die because they are off facebook. They can leave if they want,” Kasuku added.
