Soroti Regional Referral Hospital receives COVID-19 positive cases from Kumi

The Ministry of Health has Monday confirmed a total of fourteen (14) new COVID-19 cases frorn 1,084 samples of community and contacts that were tested.

Four (4) of the confirmed cases are Ugandan females who are residents of Kumi District and contacts of previously confirmed truck drivers.

According to the ministry, all confirmed cases are contacts to previously confirmed truck drivers and were under quarantine at the time of test.

Currently there are 161 admitted COVID-19 confirmed cases in 10 Regional Referral Hospitals in the country.

The government has also blocked the entry of 5 Tanzanian truck drivers who tested positive at Mutukula point of entry.

“5 Tanzanian foreign truck drivers (all Tanzanians) were handed over to their country of origin,” Dr Ruth Aceng the Health Minister said, adding that samples from Points of Entry tested on Sunday were 655 while samples from community and contacts are 1,084
