Stepping Stone Academy Nursery and Primary Schools Bukoto is a unique educational facility that caters for children of pre-school and primary school going age. The academy has several facilities and a great curriculum that provides an integrated education for the child. Several parents have taken their children to the school and have been satisfied by the services they offer.
In our visit to the school today, we met the director Ms Laura Johnson who told us about their work at the school.
Monday Times: Good morning Ms Laura Johnson. We would like to understand the services that you offer at Stepping Stone Academy. Can you tell us a bit about this?
Director Laura Johnson: We are an educational facility for children. We have been opened for the last five years. At Stepping Stone Academy, we have four classes: the play group (day care), Kindergarten One, Kindergarten Two and Pre-Primary.
We have now opened the primary school, so we are now up to P3 and every year we shall be adding until we get to P7 and then we shall retain it going forward.
We have two campuses: they are both one at Bukoto, one at Lutaaya Drive, one at Serwadda Close in Bukoto near the Mosque.
At the school, we do have both curricula work and extra curricula activities. These are Swimming, Sports, Music, Arts and Crafts, Football, Dance, Information Technology, Piano, Cooking Club, Ballet.
Monday Times: How different is Stepping Stone Academy from other pre-schools and pre-primary school?
Director Laura Johnson: the teachers are very good and the curriculum we have is good because we integrate. We have both the local and international curriculum so someone can choose to go to a local school or an international school after we the complete with us.
Monday Times: What are your opening hours and days?
Director Laura Johnson: We work from Monday to Friday, and we are open as early as 7am and work to 5.30 pm.
Monday Times: Can someone who is far away invite you to register their child with you?
Director Laura Johnson: It is better that you send a representative to see the school, talk to the teachers and pay a non-refundable admission fee of 100,000.
Monday Times: Do you have transport for the children?
Director Laura Johnson: Yes we have transport. We have a school van which takes children to and from the school if the parent would like us to do so.
Monday Times: In case my child is too fast at learning or too intelligent, how do you handle such a child?
Director Laura Johnson: They are awarded to boost their esteem. We give them prizes, stickers, and other ways of making them feel a sense of achievement.
We ensure that we do not take them to another class because they are too intelligent. Age matters.
Monday Times: where are you located?
Director Laura Johnson: We are located in Bukoto at Lutaaya Drive, and at Serwadda Close.
Monday Times: what phone numbers do you use for business?
Director Laura Johnson: our phone numbers 0776111901/0772347868/0704773104
