The Ruparelia Group on Sunday officially opened the State of art US$320m (Shs1.2 trillion) Kingdom Kampala Mall.
Sudhir’s wife and son, Jyostna Ruparelia and Rajiv Ruparelia respectively presided over the ceremony.
Currently, Dr Sudhir Ruparelia, the chairman and founder of the Group owns a string of hotels, country clubs and more than 200 commercial properties with the latest one being the ultra-modern mixed use mall.
Addressing guests at the ceremony, Rajiv, who doubles as managing director Crane Management Services (CMS) and the Ruparelia Group revealed that the building has been opened at “a strategic” time when Uganda’s oil sector is booming, noting that it will offer office space to the sector as well as others government agencies.
He described the “phase one of the building” as unique, noting that there are a few buildings like it in Uganda. He revealed the total built up area is 42,000 square meters.
He added that the facility has 22,000 square meters of letable retail & office space, parking for up to 450 cars and sprinkler fire suppression system.
Inside the twelve floored multi-billion and multipurpose complex there’s a 200 bedroom 4 Star Hotel, 22,000 square meter office space and rentable space, parking for up to 450 cars, Sprinkler fire suppression system, 400 CCTVs for security, three backup generators and six Lifts with combined 72- passenger capacity.
One of the office floors exquisitely finished with high-grade marble and a touch of African-themed iron sculpture.
Kingdom Kampala mall, is located between three main roads; Nile Avenue, Yusuf Lule Road and Dewinton Road to the northeast of Central Business District of Kampala is now arguably Kampala’s ‘newest in-thing’, in case you happen to pump into such a question on street!
