Sanyu FM, a radio station owned by Ugandan business mogul Sudhir Ruparelia, has fired all its workers after they engaged in a sit-down strike of payment arrears and what they termed as unfair payment decisions by the management.
The fired staff, that include some of Uganda’s most celebrated Radio personalities like James Onen alias Fat Boy, had been protesting a 25% pay cut that management had imposed on them without proper engagement.
According to information that we have received, all the workers that took part in the strike were fired after failing to honour their payment contracts.
The management has since started fresh hiring mechanism and announced new show hosts that will be taking over from the old lot. Comedian Patrick Idringi alias Salvador is among those that have already shared the good news of their hiring with their audiences. Salvador will be taking over the Sanyu FM Morning/Breakfast Show.
