Ugandan tests positive for coronavirus

Rwanda has reported that a Ugandan who travelled from the UK on Sunday has tested positive for Novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Rwandan ministry of health reported on Sunday that four more cases had tested positive, including the Ugandan who arrived from London on the same day.

The other three cases are all of Rwandans who include one who travelled from South Sudan, another from Fiji via the US and Qatar while the third has no travel record.

The coronavirus confirmed cases in Rwanda have risen to five after four people tested positive on Sunday, the country’s health ministry says.

Rwanda suspended schools, universities and places of worship across the country for two weeks effective Sunday to curb the spread of the coronavirus after its first confirmed case was announced, an Indian national who arrived in the country from Mumbai.

“All patients are currently under treatment in stable condition, isolated from other patients. The tracing of all contacts has been conducted for further management,” the ministry reported.

On Saturday, the country announced it had closed all places of worship and schools.
“Places of worship are closed from Sunday March 15, 2020, with prayers to be conducted from home,” the ministry announced.

“Schools and higher education institutions (both public and private) shall close on Monday, March 16, 2020.”
