Uganda People’s Defence Force [UPDF] soldiers have shot and killed one of their own who had gone rouge.
Pt Jimmy Masaaba, attached to Kaabong Brigade, has been on run after shooting dead a civilian in Kaabong District.
Masaaba reportedly shot dead, Joseph Nyerere, a foreman at the Chinese Construction Camp in Kaabong over the weekend and fled with the firearm.
While his colleagues pursued him to Uzake Village in Morungole Sub County, they got in an accident which left four dead and three others injured.
According to Maj Telesphor Turyamumanya, the 3rd Division Spokesman, Masaaba was later cornered at Lolelia Detach in Kaabong on Tuesday.
Masaaba reportedly started shooting at the soldiers who in turn killed him.
Meanwhile, two soldiers were also injured in the process.
